Two Cabins at Woodland Retreat at DeSoto

This listing includes two cabins, Coyote Cabin and The Otter Box Cabin.

Both cabins are situated on the 92-acre retreat property known as Woodland Retreat at DeSoto. As its name implies, this retreat property offer guests a peaceful retreat and cool mountain getaway, deep in the woods and high atop Lookout Mountain in Alabama. Each cabin (also listed and available to book individually) sleeps 6, so this listing provides a combined retreat property that can sleep up to 12.  Explore waterfalls, parks, shops, and restaurants. Relax by the rock fire pits or on the front porches with a cup of coffee, and enjoy views through a canopy of trees. Diverse wildlife is spotted frequently on the property, and fantastic hiking trails are nearby at DeSoto State Park! Renew, refresh, and be restored! 

**THE RETREAT PROPERTY**  

Not long after you turn onto the private road that winds through the retreat property, you will see Coyote Cabin on your left (also listed individually) with a private parking area (2 cars max).  Soon after, you will see The Otter Box Cabin, also on the left, with another private parking area (2 cars max). Both cabins have optional no-stairs entrances, and The Otter Box Cabin has 32” interior doors, and wide floor space in the bedrooms and in the living room.

Your family will appreciate the beautiful treehouse views from the covered porch area of each cabin. The porches make a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or hot tea in the morning and take in the views :)  Stepping inside these cabins, you will know your peaceful retreat has begun as you are surrounded by windows that reveal refreshing views through a canopy of trees. Be sure to look up and notice the beautiful wood ceiling that was built by the homeowners and upcycled from hurricane-weathered wood planks on Alabama's own coast in Baldwin County.  

Moving into the main living area of each cabin, you will appreciate the sight of a large comfortable sofa and loveseat. There is plenty of room for your family to enjoy this space and in The Otter Box Cabin, there is additional floorspace consideration for our guests who require a wheelchair. The sofa folds out to a queen bed when needed. There is a gas log fireplace in each cabin for your enjoyment, and for movie nights in, there is a 55" smart television in the living room of each cabin with fast Wi-Fi for streaming your own favorite channel subscriptions.  A DVD player is also available if you'd like to bring your favorite DVDs. 

Directly next to the living room area in each cabin is the dining area and kitchen. There is a smaller dining table to allow for wider floor space consideration, and there are 4 chairs, with  additional chairs on the front porch.  In each kitchen, there is a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, cooking pots, can opener, pans and utensils, dishes, drinking glasses, eating utensils, cooking spices, coffee mugs, and more.  

All of the bedrooms have beautiful window views into the wooded backyard. In each bedroom, there is a queen bed and with comfortable bedding for your rest and relaxation.

Each cabin has a full bathroom with a full tub/shower combo.  The Otter Box Cabin includes a hand-held shower option.  Directly across the hall from the bathroom, there is a full laundry room in each cabin, with a washer and dryer available for your convenience.  You will also find extra quilts, a portable fan and a sofa-bedding kit.  

Back outside and near each cabin, you will notice a river rock fire pit designed with your retreat in mind. You are welcomed to use any small pieces of fallen wood that can safely fit inside the fire pit, and firewood bundles are sold at nearby stores. Please only burn firewood, as the homeowners and guests roast food over this fire pit. Extendable roasters are located in a kitchen drawer for your convenience, so be sure to bring ingredients for s'more memories. Near each cabin's fire pit is a charcoal/wood-burning Campground-Style BBQ Grill with a metal bucket and lid to collect BBQ grill ashes.

This retreat property is dog-friendly (small to medium dogs only - 2 dogs max per cabin), and a $69 pet fee is applied per dog.

Payment Policy: 50% of reservation is due at time of booking.  Remaining 50% balance is due and collected automatically, via credit card processing, 30 days prior to arrival. 

During the booking process, guests are required to review and e-sign a vacation rental agreement and upload their government-issued photo ID.  Guests are also offered the ability to purchase optional travel insurance by a third party company that is not affiliated with Peaceful Retreats.

Reservations require an authorized security damage hold ($500).  This authorized hold will be released, less any damages, 4 days following departure.

This retreat property is non-smoking.

Cancellation Policy on Direct-Book Reservations:  Full refund (less $79 cancellation fee) if cancellation occurs more than 30 days before arrival.  No refund within 30 days of arrival.
