Woodcrest Cabin

Perched on the brow of Lookout Mountain along Citadel Rock Road, Woodcrest Cabin is a rare retreat property where seclusion, sweeping views and effortless comfort come together. This spacious home is situated on over two wooded acres of natural beauty. Woodcrest Cabin offers easy access to the main level of the home - which includes the living and dining area, kitchen, primary bedroom suite, and the screened porch.  Two additional bedrooms are located upstairs.  Climb the nearby Citadel Boulders, or hike the nearby trails at DeSoto State Park, and unwind on the back deck as the sun sets, with hues of gold and crimson. With frequent wildlife sightings, this is a place to truly renew, refresh, and feel restored. 

**THE RETREAT PROPERTY**

Guests agree that the most significant highlight of Woodcrest Cabin is its stunning outdoor space. A spacious back deck overlooks the brow and invites you to relax and take in the fresh mountain air.  The screened back porch has a swing bed with a twin mattress - perfect for afternoon naps. Periodically, you will hear the echoing whistle of a train, winding through the valley below.  There is a fire pit in the back yard, and there are marshmallow roasters in a kitchen drawer for s'more memories. This home is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking a secluded and peaceful retreat experience in the heart of the mountains.

There is a circle driveway and parking area directly in front of the home for up to 3 vehicles. The large front porch is perfect for sipping morning coffee amidst nature, and you'll find comfortable lounge chairs, rocking chairs and a porch swing for gathering.  There is also a Green Egg BBQ grill for your convenience.  

Inside, the cabin’s open layout creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Rich with character, the cabin is thoughtfully curated with art and antiques that reflect the homeowners’ love of history and Lookout Mountain. 

There is a dining area with a large wooden dining table and 6 chairs.  2 additional chairs are located in the primary bedroom suite if needed.  

The spacious living room features comfortable seating and a large stoned fireplace that utilizes propane and is ideal for relaxing evenings. This home has an open floor plan, so that the spacious living room, dining area and kitchen ALL have a fabulous view of trees and mountains. The living room has plenty of comfortable seating with a sofa, loveseat and 3 additional lounge chairs. There is a large stone gas-log fireplace, and a 80” HD TV is in the corner for streaming your subscription channels.  Beside the large windows overlooking forest and mountain crests, there is a chess/checkers table with two comfortable lounge chairs.

The sofa can fold out with to sleep 2 guests.  Even our 7th and 8th guests can truly have a peaceful night’s sleep in this home with amazing views - as shown in photos! There is a 4-inch Cool Gel Memory Foam Queen Mattress in an antimicrobial encasement, and guests have access to a sofa bed kit (in a zipped case) with 2 queen pillows in antimicrobial encasements, pillow cases, sheets, and a blanket.

The spacious main-level primary bedroom suite is designed with comfort in mind. Enjoy a king bed, 43” Roku TV, and bedside lamps with USB/USC charging ports for modern convenience. Dual closets provide ample storage space, while the ensuite bathroom features a custom tiled walk-in shower and double sink vanity — ideal for an unhurried start for your day.

Across from the living area, the updated and well-equipped kitchen has granite countertops and stainless appliances.  With the professional gas stovetop and oven, the chef in your family will love preparing meals here. Guests will find dishes, pots, pans, and utensils needed to enjoy preparing meals together. There is also a kitchen Island meal preparation, as well as a pantry for additional storage. 

In between the kitchen and the living area, there is a half bathroom.

Upstairs, you’ll find two additional bedrooms and one bathroom, thoughtfully arranged for families or groups. The second bedroom offers a private, restful escape with a comfortable king bed, closet and 43” Roku TV.  The third bedroom has two twin beds, closet and a 32" Roku TV.  There is a small bathroom with a tub/shower combination, sink and toilet.  The upstairs foyer area provides an inviting flex space with a table and four chairs — perfect for morning coffee, board games, or planning the day’s adventure. An antique cabinet holds family board games and cleverly transforms into a fold-down desk for those who need to check in on work while away. 

Access to the basement/laundry area is given to guests with a lock code.  Downstairs from the main level, there a washer and dryer available.  The rest of the basement space is locked and reserved for the homeowners' personal storage and supplies.

Alabama's own native plants and a variety of wildlife can be seen each morning as you enjoy your first cup of coffee or hot tea. Listen close for the footsteps of deer, frequently walking through this property. Spend your days exploring nearby waterfalls, parks, shops, and local dining, then return to quiet evenings by the fire pit or peaceful mornings on the front porch with coffee in hand.

Note: The garage and side driveway (steep) is only available to the property owners.  Guests can park directly in front of the front porch. (3 cars max)

This retreat property allows small dogs only (less than 20 lbs), leashed at all times due to homeowner policy specifications, diverse wildlife and this property’s rental regulations. If you wish to bring a small dog, a pet fee of $69 applies per stay (2 dogs max).

Payment Policy: 10% of reservation is due at time of booking.  Remaining 90% balance is due and collected automatically, via credit card processing, 30 days prior to arrival.

During the booking process, guests are required to review and e-sign a vacation rental agreement and upload their government-issued photo ID. Guests are also offered the ability to purchase optional travel insurance by a third party company that is not affiliated with Peaceful Retreats.

Reservations require an authorized security damage hold ($500). This authorized hold will be released, less any damages, 4 days following departure.

Cancellation Policy on Direct-Book Reservations: Full refund (less $79 cancellation fee) if cancellation occurs more than 30 days before arrival. No refund within 30 days of arrival.
